Is it just me or has most of the world gone crazy? I'm referring, of course, to reports of the iPhone 4 launch that happened overnight.
Frustratingly, it seems like Apple can do no wrong when it comes to selling these sorry excuses for "phones". Seems that stocks are already dwindling as Apple fanboys queue up overnight, all too easily ready to handover their hard earned cash for a highly questionable product. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a phones primary function is to perform a phone call, right? Has everyone and their dog forgot about the iPhone 4 antenna issue????? Whereby touching the bottom left of the iPhone causes it to lose reception???? Has the world gone MAD?!
It is not so much the technical problem of the iPhone that struck a cord with me at the time. Anyone can make a mistake, and it is clear to everyone that, in this instance, Apple obviously erred in exposing the antenna on the side of the phone.
But hey ... you have to cut them a bit of slack because they do sometimes push the boundaries in their products and are admittedly one of the leaders in the IT market.
No, it wasn't the technical problems, silly and obvious as they were, that frustrated me. It was their lack of admission,
in particular from their ever-smug CEO Steve Jobs, that really irate me. His suggestion that users should
"Just don't hold it that way then." smacked of ridiculous amount of arrogance that is not surprising given Apples
dedicated legion of fanboys who will literally buy anything they put up for sale. Slap an Apple tag onto a kitchen sink
and it'll sell like hot cakes ...
you know its true
In fact, it isn't even really Apples fault. I mean ... geeeeez ... can you blame them for their dismissive reaction when they know that, no matter what they do, Apple fanboys will be lining in stores at midnight to buy anything they sell? No ... the heart of this problem is NOT Apple or their attitude. The problem are the consumers. For as long as there are Apple fanboys out there who will cream their pants at the mere mention of the company then there will be little reason for Apple to change their attitude.
So where does that leave us? It leaves us with a picture of this douchbag:
whose face adorns the start of the article in this mornings Age. His name is Sam Dunster and, despite the fact that the iPhone 4 loses all reception when you hold it "incorrectly", his joke-of-a-response was:
"It does concern me, yes, but I think that Apple has some pretty solid evidence that the same thing happens to other phones"
And it is there i rest my case. When fanboys can say shit like that despite all the evidence to the contrary then consumers are doomed. These Apple Fanboys are either ignorant, retarded, or too rich for their own good ... or all of the above. I have owned phones made from Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and HTC, and never ever ever have I ever experienced loss of reception based upon how I hold a phone. Never ever has anyone had the nerve to tell me that I'm "holding my phone wrong". And never have I ever heard anyone else experience this problem with a phone until now ...
but i'll lave you with this:
It is Apple Fanboys, like Sam Dunster, that give Apple the freedom to treat consumers with disdain. Apples attitude frustrates me,
but it is the Apple Fanboys that anger me
Comments ...
What if you hate the hater and the fanboys? Universe assplode.
Yes, all 3G phones DO lose coverage. I've tried it myself with my Nokia.
Yes, Apple's new iPhone is significantly worse than other phones at losing reception when held incorrectly.
It was a stuff-up. Apple was insincere when comparing their reception loss with other brands. They were trying to drag everyone else down in their mud.
Also the "bars" calculation excuse was total rubbish from Apple and disdain for their customers.
Apple makes good phones. The problem is that Steve Jobs believes in his arrogance that they make great phones.
It'll take a while for the general population to work this out, but the fanboys will be the last to acknowledge it.
In the meantime, enjoy the whinge!
